Cooking directions for fluffy, tender riceEdit

  1. Bring to a boil 21/2 cups water in a 2 to 3

quart sauce pan. Add 1 tablespoon margarine or butter, and 1 teaspoon salt, optional.

  1. Add 1 cup brown rice.
  1. Let water return to a boil. Cover with tight fitting lid and lower

heat to simmer. Cook 1 hour or until rice is tender. Yield: Six 1/2 cup servings.

Microwave directionsEdit

  1. Combine 1 cup rice, 2 cups cons water, 1 tablespoon margarine or

butter, and 1 teaspoon salt, if desired, in a 2 to 3 quart deep microwave safe container.

  1. Cover and cook on high (maximum power) for 5 minutes or until


  1. Reduce heat to low (30% of power) and cook for 45 to 55 minutes.

Fluff with fork.

For high altitude, use slightly more water and allow 5 minutes longer cooking time.
